gnuplot on Arch is lacking PDF terminal support. This requires a pdflib package (www.pdflib.com) and the --with-pdf configure option. Since PDF support is not that uncommonly used, I am wondering why it is not already there.

i just took over gnuplot from Eric, a former pkg-maintainer... sure it would be cool to have PDF-support. is the pdflib pkg free?
http://www.pdflib.com/products/pdflib-family/pdflib-lite/pdflib-lite-licensing/ is not plain GPL or something... so i'm wondering...

only non-commercial use of pdflib-lite is permitted (I haven't read the whole license, BTW). It's a similar issue like in http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/7001
We should be consistent on the addition of such licensed packages in the repo.

gnuplot is currently being maintained by pressh. I have no problems with moving these "difficult" licensed software into the repositories, the users are responsible for checking the licenses.

I won't add it as I don't think adding licenses like these is a good idea. People should be able to build their own with the use of the aur pdflib-lite package (which only has 4 votes so it doesn't seem to be very popular either).
