DetailsDescription:
TensorFlow 2.2.0 expects gast-0.3.*, but the dependency is currently python-gast02. As a result, TensorFlow autograph fails to convert even trivial functions. See also: https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/32319#issuecomment-597946520 and https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/ae408cc2fb55644feb5d6ae8089e0496b97481da/tensorflow/tools/pip_package/setup.py#L57 Run with python to reproduce: import tensorflow as tf tf.autograph.set_verbosity(10, alsologtostdout=True) @tf.function def square(x): return x * x for xx in tf.data.Dataset.range(10).map(square).as_numpy_iterator(): print(xx) Works as expected after doing: pacman -Rdd python-gast02 && pacman -S python-gast |

TensorFlow 2.1 doesn't support python 3.8 ( https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/35101 ) so tf2.2 rc is the only viable option at the moment.

Correct, but this bug is about tf2.2 rc not supporting gast 0.2. The dependency should be python-gast, not python-gast02.
