I am aware that /dev/hda changed to /dev/sda in 2.6.19, but what I see now on my computers working in 2.6.20 is just crazy.
After the boot hard disk can be named /dev/hda or /dev/sda. There is no rule.
If I put /dev/hda to grub and it will boot as /dev/sda I will see kernel panic.
if I put /dev/sda - it can boot as /dev/hda - kernel panic again.
This is Arch current, with 2.6.20 kernel, on machines with IDE disks.
A tip: these machines had huge problems with ATA port is slow to respond on 2.6.19.
