Details

Description:

Dolphin crashes when right clicking on any file (folders work, only regular files are broken).

The crash appears to happen in the code of
/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kfileitemaction/sharefileitemaction.so

I tried rebuilding the purpose package above file belongs to and also rebuilding dolphin,
it did not help.

The following did help though, after doing this, no crash:

mv /usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kfileitemaction/sharefileitemaction.so /usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kfileitemaction/sharefileitemaction.so.bak

I'm not sure if this is a packaging or an upstream bug, so I'm reporting this here first.

Additional info:
* package version(s):

% pacman -Q qt5-base purpose dolphin
qt5-base 5.15.0beta1-1
purpose 5.67.0-1
dolphin 19.12.2-1

* config and/or log files etc.

see attached backtrace.

* link to upstream bug report, if any

-

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open dolphin
2. Right-click on any regular file
3. Observe the crash

You can simply disable the share plugin, no need to mess with files in /usr

Oh, right. Why didn't I think of that... Now I feel stupid... -.-
Reverted the `mv` and deactivated the plugin in settings, same result: no crash anymore.

Well anyway, I investigated further and noticed the crash seems to somehow be related to QJsonObject,
before crashing it prints some errors mentioning that. (see dolphin.log)
Also, Gwenview when opening an image crashes too and has QJsonObject in it's backtrace...
so it seems something's broken with that.

Correction: With Gwenview it's QJsonArray not QJsonObject.

disable "sharing" extension don't work for me. i'm still get sporadic segfaults
Comment by Antonio Rojas (arojas) - Tuesday, 03 March 2020, 21:31 GMT
@sl1pkn07 Your issue is unrelated to this (and possibly to Qt)
Comment by Gustavo Alvarez (sl1pkn07) - Tuesday, 03 March 2020, 21:36 GMT
but all start when update qt from kde-unstable. also fails gwenview

then, like you kwedge, the problem is?

greetings

The gwenview crash is this bug. Purpose integration in gwenview is not a plugin so it can't be disabled without recompiling it. The dolphin backtrace you posted is a crash in ICU.

other crash. this thime without icu related (gcc?)

greetings
