when this mask is set, the screen flashing stops.

You want [1] backporting so you can use the option amdgpu.dcfeaturemask=0x4

i'm unsure what you mean by back porting? as i've always used the latest stable version of the kernel

The commit is not in the stable tree [1] and is not one of the commits arch currently applies locally [2],
but it is in Linus's tree [3] so I meant you want that commit [4] applied / cherry picked / backported to the next release of arch linux package.
