tl;dr: `ttf-liberation` package is required to display non-embedded fonts, kindly add it as a dependency.

As per [1], does the PDF continue to render correctly after uninstalling ttf-liberation and installing gsfonts?

If yes, I can add it as a dependency in the next package release.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll follow Chrome's dependencies here and replace the generic ttf-font with ttf-liberation.
