Description:

VLC cannot read audio CDs without the package extra/libcddb, the cdda access module silently fails on load.
This package should at least be added to the opt deps.

Steps to reproduce:

Run VLC
File -> Open disk
An error msg will tell you vlc cannot open this input.

or from CLI: vlc cdda://{path_to_disk} can be /dev/cdrom (or /dec/sr0 for me), and such.

libcddb is not listed in the optional dependencies for VLC at all. Only libcdio which also does not mention CDDB

libcddb was recently removed from libcdio [1] essentially because of  FS#76105 . Maybe that was too hasty?

Yeah, at least with VLC it seems to set its own server or pulls it some other way because I correctly get album information and artwork with CDDB installed.
