Since Linux 5.4 there is a native exFAT driver available in the mainline kernel. Unfortunately, the FUSE driver in this package seems to take over the native one. Should the FUSE driver be disabled in this package, as in the exfat-utils-nofuse from AUR?

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  To use the kernel's driver, exfatprogs can be used in place of exfat-utils.

Removing it entirely is not really an option, since linux-lts is an officially supported kernel and it's currently at version 4.19.86.
Maybe exfat-utils can be made into a split-package, separating the utilities and FUSE driver.

Good point. On the other hand, 5.4 is an LTS kernel, so linux-lts will presumably be upgraded rather sooner than later.

There was an upstream pull request to allow building without FUSE [1] but it was never merged.
You could pursue that while waiting for linux-lts to move to a 5.4+ base.

There are another exFAT userspace utilities made by Samsung ( https://github.com/exfatprogs/exfatprogs ). Version 1.0.1 of that project uses the name "exfat-utils", but in the next version (1.0.2) it will be named exfatprogs.
I think that these exfat-utils can be left alone as long as someone will package exfatprogs when the next version is released.
