DetailsDescription:
~1 minute delay for the first command 'id' with nslcd using openLDAP server. This problem has been bothering me for quite a while, but with the help from Mat and Arthur from nslcd's team, I had a solution, which might or might not work for others. Every time I start 'nslcd' in command line after reboot, the first 'id' command has ~1 minute of delay, but all following 'id' commands work fine. I tested two ways to fix the delay successfully. 1, in /etc/nslcd.conf, change 'uri' from the LDAP server's host name to its IP address 2, in /etc/nssswitch.conf change line 'hosts: files mymachines myhostname resolve [!UNAVAIL=return] dns' to 'hosts: files mymachines myhostname dns resolve [!UNAVAIL=return]' Maybe Arch can change /etc/nsswitch.conf in its package? I am not sure if it will work in all cases though. |

We'll not change default nsswitch.conf.
