Description:

Microsoft TrueType fonts are not replaced with Liberation fonts.

Gentoo provides a config file which replaces 'Arial', 'Courier', 'Times New Roman' with the corresponding fonts from Liberation: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/media-fonts/liberation-fonts/files/60-liberation.conf

I thing it would be useful to provide the config file along with the package.

This is already provided by 30-metric-aliases.conf

I see know. But something is not OK with 30-metric-aliases.conf, if I use `Courier New` it replaces it, but using `Courier` I get:

fontconfig: Didn't find expected font family. Perhaps URW Type 1 fonts need installing? when opening font Courier, trying default

Are you still having this issue? If so, do you have an user-specific configs in `~/.config/fontconfig`?
