DetailsAs discussed lately on Arch Conf as well as over IRC, we could not find an actual use of gettext.
Unless there is something actually using it (in which case it should likely be added as a dependency to it), we should consider removing it from base. |

makepkg usage itself expects base-devel presence anyway, so adding all makepkg depends as hard depends to the pacman package is imo just artificially undermining the efforts and discussions around the base package.
