Description:

I have an application which uses the features of the arch package ossp 1.3.2+11+g9e94d67-1 (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/ossp/).

If I update from pulseaudio 12 to pulseaudio 13 (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/pulseaudio/) the package ossp does not work any more.

I can see the following error in the command line if start the application with pulseaudio 13:

open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Input/output error

The journalctl prints the following error line:

osspd[653]: ossp-padsp ERR: failed to connect context, state=5 (Bad state)

Not a PulseAudio bug but an osspd one (title prefix should be [ossp]*):
(*Arch/extra/ossp built from osspd source)

[2019-12-29] Ubuntu Launchpad:
osspd no longer works: ERR: failed to connect context, state=5 (Bad state)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/osspd/+bug/1857810

[2021-04-09]Debian: Bug #986662:
ossp-padsp not working with recent Pulseaudio
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=986662

The latter thread reports that Arch Linux ossp v1.3.2+11+g9e94d67-3 fixes the reported issues.

Btw @heftig why did you only include your source patches in Arch packaging repo
and not in your osspd fork?
