The kernel26 2.6.20-2 in testing gives me a kernel panic when I have my wireless card plugged in, and I get a backtrace that seems to involve ndiswrapper. If I revert to 2.6.20-1, the kernel panic disappears. My wireless card is a MN-720. I suspect it might be the bcm43xx_2.6.20_combined.patch since udev loads that module for my card (despite it not being used afaik).

I tried it back when the kernel first got support for bcm43xx and never was able to get it to work. I'll give it another shot tomorrow hopefully, but it may not be an option unless things have changed.

I installed bcm43xx-fwcutter, ran bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware ~/wl_apsta.o, and added 'bcm43xx' to my rc.conf's modules array. It still doesn't work, the wireless card never fully powers on (the led is dim green instead of bright). Either I'm missing something obvious or it still doesn't work with my card (despite supposedly being supported).

I can bring up this problem with the bcm43xx guys, my only concern here is that regardless of whether it works or not, I shouldn't get a kernel panic because I choose to use ndiswrapper.

please blacklist then the bcm module that udev doesn't load it anymore

Sweet, it boots fine now, no more kernel panic with ndiswrapper. Thanks :)
