Share a prometheus_multiproc_dir (maybe under `/var/cache/gitlab/prometheus`.
that could be set by systemd.service and `Environment=prometheus_multiproc_dir=`

The documentations says Gitlab connects to Prometeus using TCP https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/monitoring/prometheus/. OR saying it another way gitlab.service does not start prometeus service and thus has nothing to do with Prometeus data directories configuration.
