Description:
I updated inkscape to the 0.92.4-8 version yesterday. At first it crashed at startup as a (removed) bug report mentionned up to today. The answer to this report was to remove my profile folder, which I did : Inkscape would then be started.

Steps to reproduce:
Start inkscape in bash, and I can either :
- Click on Object > Align and Distribute and make Inkscape crash
- Call the same functionnality by its keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Maj + A. This time Inkscape doesn't crash, the "Align and Distribute" doesn't appear neither, but it throws the following error in my command line window :

(inkscape:6611): glibmm-CRITICAL **: 12:32:41.854:
unhandled exception (type Glib::Error) in signal handler:
domain: gdk-pixbuf-error-quark
code : 3
what : Format d’image non reconnu

I tried variant of it, opening an ".svg" file, without opening any file, in the end the result is the same.

* I can confirm this bug (and a colleague on an independently configured arch system as well). It also appears when calling.
- Object > Fill and Stroke

However, it does not appear for any of the other dialogues in the objects menu.

* The command line reports:
$ inkscape
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Gdk::PixbufError'

Emergency save activated!
Emergency save completed. Inkscape will close now.
If you can reproduce this crash, please file a bug at www.inkscape.org
with a detailed description of the steps leading to the crash, so we can fix it.
Aborted (core dumped)

* However, the bug does not seem to depend on the upgrade to inkscape 0.92.4-8, which I installed on August 29 and it has been running fine since. It must be related with the upgrade of some (indirect) dependency, as all the direct dependencies are from earlier dates.

Thank you !

* I confirm that I also have the bug with Object > Fill and Stroke. No other function seems affected.
* If I call it through the keyboard shortcut I get the same :
###
(inkscape:24752): glibmm-CRITICAL **: 10:58:01.939:
unhandled exception (type Glib::Error) in signal handler:
domain: gdk-pixbuf-error-quark
code : 3
what : Format d’image non reconnu
###
* I tried again to remove to remove ~/.cache/inkscape/ and ~/.config/inkscape/ and it was still there
* I also tried to remove the "TeXText" addon which is the only addon I have in Inkscape, and the bug still remains.

The error was introduced by the upgrade of shared-mime-info from version 1.12-1 to 1.13.1-1 (the newer update to 1.13.1-2 does not fix the error!). Downgrading shared-mime-info to 1.12-1 can be used as temporary fix.

It solved the issue for me too. Many thanks for sharing !

The bug seems to have been solved with newer versions of the packages. I just updated to shared-mime-info 1.15-1, still running inkscape 0.92.4-8, and the error does not occur any longer.
