Details
Description:
A new feature in Xfce 4.14 is the ability to use color profiles with colord. This adds xfce4-color-settings to package xfce4-settings. There are three optional dependencies to use this feature (see Xfce wiki page https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings/4.14/color ), quote: - cupsd: For printers - saned: For scanners - xiccd (etc): For displays Additional info: - Pre-4.14 release article mentioning these requirements: https://simon.shimmerproject.org/2019/02/19/color-profile-support-for-xfce/ * package version(s) - xfce4-settings 4.14.1-1 - cupsd (cups 2.2.12-1 in Extra) - saned (sane 1.0.27-2 in Extra) - xiccd (available as xiccd 0.3.0-1 in AUR) * config and/or log files etc. N/A * link to upstream bug report, if any N/A Steps to reproduce: - Install/upgrade to xfce4-settings 4.14.1-1. - Open Settings > Color Profiles OR run xfce4-color-settings in terminal - Color Profiles reports 'no devices found' - Install xiccd - Laptop monitor is detected! I did try colord-gtk initially before xiccd. It did not work for me to get my laptop monitor recognized, but there could be config requirements I missed. I would rather not install colord-kde with all its KDE dependencies to test it. I do not and will not be using the color profiles feature. I just ran into this when trying to help someone in #xfce. |

"Display profiles don't work out of the box in Xfce (yet), you need a daemon like xiccd for them to work."
Package Versions:
- xiccd (available as xiccd 0.3.0-1 in AUR)
- xfce4-settings 4.18.3-1
Steps to reproduce:
- Have installed xfce4-settings 4.18.3-1.
- Open Settings > Color Profiles OR run xfce4-color-settings in terminal
- Color Profiles reports 'no devices found'
- Install xiccd
- Log out and back in
- Laptop monitor is detected!
Also, I did not get a notification for the Buggy McBugFace bot message. :(
