Where the actual drop-shadow should be around each window, the latest version of Beryl renders junk/artifacts with my Ati Radeon 9000 Mobility. This didn't happen with older builds.

Reason for closing:  Won't fix
Additional comments about closing:  As beryl is unstable package by its nature - just wait until it will be fixed by mainstream.

What does it render instead? White boxes?
Comment by Eugenia Loli-Queru (Eugenia) - Monday, 05 February 2007, 23:52 GMT
Nope, just parts of the other windows. Usually in black color but sometimes some other colors are visible too. It seems that redrawing doesn't work well.

The white boxes bug is fixed.

Can you test the latest version?

It is not fixed in the latest version. I can't get a screenshot either though, because the artifacts are getting away at the moment when you get a screenshot. There are artifacts around the windows when are moved and tacked away in a place on the desktop. It happens with either emerald or heliodor, it seems to be a new beryl-core bug.

Not necessarily. It could also be a driver bug in ATI or in AIGLX (I don't experience this on nvidia, but nvidia implements texture_from_pixmap differently).

Does this bug occur in both texture_from_pixmap and copy rendering mode? Have you tried disabling some plugins to see if a specific plugin causes this? So far I haven't seen anyone else reporting this. Does this also happen with my beryl 0.2-rc1 builds? http://www.archlinux.org/~thomas/beryl/0.1.9999.1/ and http://www.archlinux.org/~thomas/beryl/0.1.9999.1/README

ok, it was indeed one of the plugins that created the problem! When I disabled the Blur effect, the artifacts disappeared. Please make a bug report at Beryl project so they fix it (if Arch developers can't).
