Description:
xtrabackup since version 8.0.X (release 2019-01-07) broke compatibility with MariaDB. Now error is shown:

Error: Unsupported server version: '10.3.14-MariaDB-log'.
This version of Percona XtraBackup can only perform backups and restores against MySQL 8.0 and Percona Server 8.0
Please use Percona XtraBackup 2.4 for this database.

This is normal because the upstream used by this package is Percona Xtrabackup. However, the documentation and the package do not make it clear. There is a fork-upstream version of Xtrabackup by MariaDB called mariabackup (https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/mariabackup-overview/). This should be at least packaged separately as mariabackup and documented that the user should select appropriate version based on the MySQL server distribution in use.

Steps to reproduce:
Run xtrabackup with mariadb.

There's nothing to fix here. Someone has to create a new package "xtrabackup24". Since I am not using MariaDB I won't do that.
I suggest you create such a package in AUR or find a willing TU/developer to create such a package in the official repositories.
