From manpage: (in case you wonder what -h is)

-h Put all harddrives on the system in standby mode just before halt or poweroff.

The absense of -h may lead to damage on certain types of hardrives, specifically laptop hardrives. Dosen't hurt, only helps, no reason not to add it.
