My theory: Pacman tries to download package 3 times, on failure it puts that message. This happens randomly, usually when a package is being upgraded on the server and the package list hasn't been refreshed yet or when it fails to resolve 3 different servers.

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  This is the classic antesis bug. It's fixed in pacman3, and the antesis mirror is removed from the mirror list anyway.

I suppose that should be fixed with Pacman3.
Quite a popular bug: http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?order=date&project=1&string=corruption&status=all
