DetailsWhen a user tries to change their background to a picture from "Pictures", gnome-control-center will try to create and show thumbnails for images in that directory all at once, resulting in major slowdowns, high memory usage and complete lockup of the app if you have a lot of pictures in that folder (see https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/issues/191)
There is a workaround for this (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/merge_requests/214) and some distros like Fedora have adopted it (https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/gnome-control-center/tree/master). It would be nice if this patch was added for Arch package too until this is fixed upstream. |
