48bc07dedd3a184ae1b364765a85bba0ec8182f3 suggests, that golang-golang-x-net should be a checkdepends. Is that right or am I not seeing something here?

If it is also needed for packages that use this as go source, maybe we could solve the bootstrapping issue by having a checkdepends plus a package() depends.

It's used at least in places like godoc/redirect/redirect.go as well. Yes we could hack to resolve the bootstrapping issue though.
