I have some trouble to get the latest version of courier-mta running.

First bad thing is that it overwrites config-files in /etc/conf.d
and /etc/courier!

But even if I restore my config from my backup: the smtp-server does not work.
(imap does). I cannot connect to port 25. The only message which appears
in /var/log/error.log is:

Jan 6 21:11:01 server courieresmtpd: /usr/sbin/courieresmtpd: Permission

Downgrading to the previous package solved this problem.
