DetailsXsane and other gui frontends to sane do not work with the canon lide30 scanner. Scanimage works properly and the scanner is detected. However xsane does not work. It seems that the frontend just cannot communicate with the scanner even though it is detected. I think this problem is only related to the canon lide30 scanner.

This task depends upon
bug 6283)bug 6383andbug 6283as duplicates of this one. I think it's isolated to canon scanners, as my HP AIO device works fine with xsane as frontend.Reconnecting it makes it work, don't know where the error is though :/
Is it a bug in kernel compiling?
