What version of the flashplugin do you use?
It's either a bug in the flash plugin, which is closed source so we can't fix it, or it's something in the way the movie gets loaded: the movie is 1:37 hours in length, which is quite big in size. When the movie is fully loaded, your browser has allocated a huge amount of memory for the whole movie, which is normal.

I am not using the unstable version of flash.
The video is 720 MBs overall, but it's supposed to stream. I don't think it's normal that my 512 MB laptop will have to use 100 MBs of swap around at the time the movie is in half. Arch starts with 100 MBs of RAM on this laptop btw and then it fills up all its RAM and then uses swap.

Try the "unstable" version of flash. Flash 7.x isn't so good, so I guess it doesn't stream, but just allocates the whole movie. The "unstable" version of flash works much better than the ancient "stable" version, so give it a try.
