Can you please add "" to the provides array, so that makepkg adds the current version of that is provided by libidn (as '')?
This would allow others (e.g. me ;-P) to add "" (not just "libidn") to the depends array of their packages (possibly in the aur), which will be similarily mangled by makepkg to ''.
This prevents pacman from installing packages linked against old libidn versions.
