Hello,

as Intel chipset user i really enjoyed stuff around changing grub and booting :(.

Now i have this in grub:

# (0) Arch Linux
title Arch Linux
root (hd0,6)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/hda7 ro vga=773 earlymodules=piix
initrd /boot/kernel26.img

and it looks like working. OK, Arch boots but i can't mount disk, like USB disks.

I can't as root find any sda, sdb..., but my HDA (in notebook) is again HDA, not SDA as before.

Please can you advise something? Any hints?

Standa

p.s. can you so big changes as renaming disks aso. mark red color or put in spec.log? When i install 0.7.2 and i do pacman -Syu, there are plenty changes and some are critical, but lost in many screens

What is your HOOKS in mkinitcpio.conf?
Comment by Nobody (gamma) - Tuesday, 26 December 2006, 18:26 GMT
I added MODULES="piix ide_disk" and it looks like working.

In HOOKS i have: HOOKS="base udev autodetect ide scsi sata filesystems"

Now it works, should i change something?

Thanks, Standa

It's strange that you have to add ide_disk to MODULES to get it working.
Doesn't ide_disk appear in mkinitcpio -M output?

I reinstalled Pacman and i get much more.

This is what i get:

mkinitcpio -M
Modules autodetected:
ata_generic
ata_piix
libata
cdrom
ide-cd
ide-core
ide-disk
generic
piix
ieee1394
ohci1394
tg3
ipw2200
pcmcia_core
rsrc_nonstatic
yenta_socket
usbcore
ehci-hcd
uhci-hcd
usbhid
usb-storage
ieee80211
ieee80211_crypt
jbd
ext3

It looks like i don't need modules anymore. Standa
