Try disabling hardware acceleration

imam using nvidia proprietary driver and kde desktop. never had problems for years with default browser settings. what could be the reason for it and what are possible throwbacks/ limitations without hardware acceleration?

Still an issue with 70.0.3538.102-1? I'm not seeing it.

still happening. concerning firefox and chromium. programs hang, are slow, don't respond and finally crash. sometimes it is possible to restart them if i try it more often they crash while launching. the system is a machine from 2010 and ran with this configuration for years. memory tests succeed (16gb of ram). no problems with windows 10. i can try to get a better log

Sounds like a hardware or GPU driver issue. (Seeing as it happens with Firefox as well.) — This is something only you can troubleshoot.

You can check that microcode updates are applied properly [1] and perhaps remove the NVIDIA GPU and see if it also happens with integrated graphics.
