I have a Nvidia card and am using the Nouveau driver and i3wm. compton-2.0-2 runs well on my system.

When running compton 3.0-1 in an X session (i3wm), the screen flickers erratically and the system is unusable.

The following message is printed repeatedly: 'delayed_draw_callback(): 0.000000'

Additional Information:
- Kernel: 4.18.16-arch1-1-ARCH
- Package Version: 3.0-1
- Steps to reproduce: Start compton

Hi,

Thanks for reporting.

Please try commenting out "#sw-opti = true" in your compton configuration (now the default setting for the compton package).

I could change the package so that your custom configuration is replaced and backed up at installation time, but I'm not sure if that is better.

Submitted a feature request to compton here: https://github.com/yshui/compton/issues/31

Hi,

Thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately commenting out "#sw-opti = true" does not resolve the issue (only makes the flickering slightly less severe).

I have also tried setting "unredir-if-possible = false;" Were there any other changes to the defaults that you are aware of?

Updated the compton package to the latest commit from the next branch, ref https://github.com/yshui/compton/issues/31.

The new package should appear in [community] shortly. The message seems to be gone here. Please test.

Just tested. delayed_draw_callback() has disappeared but unfortunately this appears to have been a red herring.

I've seen the issue you opened on github and will file a bug there as was requested.

The compton developers wondered if you could give some more information at: https://github.com/yshui/compton/issues/31
