The newest kernel is missing the vfio-pci module. This should be a core module built with the kernel.

The fact that it's not a module is intended. It's a builtin now. See  FS#46505 .

Thanks for your comment. I'll try to specify pci.ids in the kernel boot options as recommended in the linked ticket.
