Description:
Thumbnail previews under Thunar are broken for image files (such as .jpg and .png) as well as video files (such as .mp4) when browsing files stored on a samba share in icon view mode. When I browse to a cifs directory that contains multiple videos, some (always less than half of the visible videos, not sure of an exact percentage or pattern) of the video files will display a preview of the video until you scroll the main thunar window. As soon as the files are scrolled, all of the icons for all of the files in the directory revert to the generic media icon.
I've also noticed previews for videos and image files very briefly working just after having copied image or video files onto a cifs share, you can see the image or video preview for a split second after the file finishes copying before the generic icon is shown instead.
I tested with an SSH mount but it should also work on Samba shares.
