Description:
After update to version 410.66-3 of the nvidia driver, xorg won't start (using `startx`). Additional info: See attached logs and below for more infos Steps to reproduce: $ sudo pacman -Syu Upgraded: nvidia-utils (410.57-3 -> 410.66-1) mkinitcpio (24-3 -> 25-1) nvidia (410.57-6 -> 410.66-3) nvidia-settings (410.57-2 -> 410.66-1) (See attachments for full logs) $ startx >& x.log (Xorg exits, back to the terminal.) (Also produces ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log) $ sudo journalctl --system -e > journal.log (Edited to only have the relevant part) |

journal.log
downgrading nvidia-utils to 410.57-3 and nvidia back to 410.57-6 solves the issue.
Hence, it is only an issue with nvidia package, not with other packages that were also upgraded (e.g mkinitcpio).
Is the linux package configured as IgnorePkg in pacman.conf or an issue with the mirror you used.
My mirrors, in order of preference:
#1 http://osl.ugr.es/archlinux
#2 http://mirrors.ukfast.co.uk/sites/archlinux.org/
#3 http://mirror.easyname.at/archlinux
I got a timeout on the other two mirrors I listed above, though. I guess that pacman picked up one lower in the list.
