Additional comments about closing: Be sure to have an up2date kernel version. Hal requires a quite modern kernel nowadays (2.6.20 should work for sure, no idea about 2.6.19)

its a bug, it used to work fine before i upgraded to 2.6.19, though i am not sure what is causing problem. is there any problem to look for error? i searched in log files /var/log/, could'nt find any hal specific messages/errors.
