I was going to suggest reporting this upstream but Doug appears to be correct in identifying this as a Wayland issue. I'm assigning this bug to our wayland people.

This bug persists with Picard 2.1.3.

I'm sorry but there does not seem to be much we can do about this from a packaging standpoint. I suggest reporting this to both wayland and picard upstream and see what happens. Cheers.
