Description:

I'm adding this report in order to track upstream work on a bug. It appears that in v9.12, bind switched to a new resolver library that does not fully handle ipv6 scopes. In my setup, systemd-resolved writes a link-local IPv6 address to /etc/resolv.conf that looks like this: xxxx::xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx%2, where the %2 refers to my local link #2. The new resolver library (irs) in bind v9.12 does not handle the %2, and so dig returns: "dig: parse of /etc/resolv.conf failed".

Upstream bug:
https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/bind9/issues/187

Arch forum topic:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=235902

Additional info:
* package version 9.13.3-1

Steps to reproduce:
* Write a local-link IPv6 address to /etc/resolv.conf
* Use dig or nslookup to attempt a DNS lookup

There was a patch merged upstream that is supposed to fix the issue: https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/bind9/merge_requests/854/diffs

Would be great if that could get applied to our package as well :)
