This task depends upon
I have same issue
1. Segfault when opening a saved connection. The query editor does come up for a few seconds with all the previous tabs open, then closes with a seg fault. I'm attaching my debug strace, my local MariaDB 10.2 database connected fine after nuking my ~/.mysql/workbench directory (same as f (bakgwailo))
2. Connecting to (some) remote MySQL servers gives an error similar to `ProxySQL Error: Access denied for user 'myuser'@'serverip' (using password: NO)` when definitely inputting a password or trying to use a saved password. This is due to MySQL Workbench 8 no longer supporting connections to older versions of MySQL Server. https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=91828 - Server 5.1 is not a supported MySQL version for Workbench. Supported versions are 5.5, 5.6, 5.7 and 8.0.
Not actionable just leaving a breadcrumb for anyone else with the issue... taken a while to work through both these issues and determine whats actually happening..
I have the same problem.
A possible workaround is delete sql_workspace directory. rm -rf ~/.mysql/workbench/sql_workspaces
