Upon upgrading:
hgview: /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/hgext3rd/__init__.py exists in filesystem (owned by mercurial)
hgview: /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/hgext3rd/__init__.pyc exists in filesystem (owned by mercurial)
hgview: /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/hgext3rd/__init__.pyo exists in filesystem (owned by mercurial)

I don't believe the severity can be 'low' given the previous version is not usable with latest mercurial.

Correct, completely nonfunctional package which directly clashes with its own dependency is "high" severity.
