DetailsDescription:
I noticed it first in Xelatex I don't know exactly when, but I assume it's since commit 'df6f15dc79bea28fa2787bfd257cb8ccd23bd798' But the xx-generic.conf files exist and seem to be loaded. The xelatex file definitely worked before. fc-list output:
[maesto@GlaDOS ~]$ fc-list | grep Noto /usr/share/fonts/noto/Noto Color Emoji.ttf: Noto Color Emoji:style=Regular /usr/share/fonts/noto/NotoColorEmoji.ttf: Noto Color Emoji:style=Regular
xelatex output:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! fontspec error: "font-not-found" ! ! The font "Noto Emoji" cannot be found. ! ! See the fontspec documentation for further information. ! ! For immediate help type H <return>. !............................................... l.34 {\fontspec{Noto Emoji}☎
Interestingly it seems to work in my shell. But libreoffice only prints those nice boxes we all know and love. Steps to reproduce: -Install Package - create .tex file with following content:
\documentclass[a4paper]{letter} \usepackage{fontspec} {\fontspec{Noto Emoji}☎} \end{document}
- Compile .tex file with
xelatex test.tex
|

Additional comments about closing: Reason for request: I found out at some point that (Xe)LaTeX does not support Colored Fonts. Only Black & White ones. Completely forgot this bugticket.

Based on the font config file I would assume too, that 'Noto Emoji' would use 'Noto Color Emoji' (Which it did before.)
Can somebody test this with the attached .tex file. Maybe it's just time to reinstall my OS after all?
