Description:

Activating a VPN connection through the dropdown menu fails with the message "Cannot specify device when activating VPN".

The VPN is not activated as a result.

Additional info:
This was observed using a configured OpenVPN profile. Several profiles are configured (OpenVPN) and all fail the same way. I don't have access to other VPNs using different protocols.

* network-manager-applet 1.8.14-1
* networkmanager-openvpn 1.8.4

Seen upstream: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=903109

Steps to reproduce:

- Have a configured VPN profile that can be activated via the dropdown menu in the applet (under 'VPN Connections')
- Make sure there is a working network interface connected to a network
- Browse to the VPN profile and click to activate
- See message.

Workaround: use nmcli or another applet. Example nmcli: nmcli connection up <profile_name (from upstream bug comments)
