Details

Description: After upgrading to Gajim V1.x.x Local accounts (zeroconf) fail to connect with a notice:

could not start local service - please check if avahi-deamon is running?

Additional info:

gajim - 1.0.3-2
avahi - 0.7+16+g1cc2b8e-1

Steps to reproduce:
Install gajim
Install and enable avahi
Launch gajim
recieve the error above and local account never reaches "online" status

gajim prior to v1.x.x the local account functioned as expected.

And through all of that, you've never checked if the avahi daemon was running? Your steps to reproduce wouldn't have started it.

Sorry about the lack of clarity. "enable avahi" meant start the service and enable it for autostart with systemctl

Also the "Worked prior to v1.x.x" would clearly point to a functioning Avahi instance.

I can confirm this behaviour, and my avahi-daemon works otherwise.

I'd like to debug the issue, but am not sure how. Gajim and avahi do not seem to talk via dbus.
