Installing ttf-gentium installs also fontconfig, xorg-font-utils and xorg-fonts-encodings. None of these is required for the fonts to function, and install hooks already take care of updating the font cache. Though depending on fontconfig is not a big issue, the other packages are of little use on modern Linux systems. |

BTW: most of our ttf font packages have these dependencies or very similar dependencies. If there was a decision to change the dependencies of ttf packages, it should be fixed everywhere.
FS#59164FS#59165I actually did not realize at first that this was the norm. So I guess it seems pretty standard at the moment for these to be listed, but I don't think this should be the case. Maybe we should discuss it more in depth...
