DetailsDescription:
Latest version (8.6.8) of mingw-w64-x86_64-tk (installed from pacman) makes VTK crash when tkwidgets are used Additional info: (I've never reported a bug before, so bear with me..) * package version(s) To make VTK work again I had to downgrade: mingw-w64-x86_64-tk-8.6.8-1 downgraded to mingw-w64-x86_64-tk-8.6.7-1 mingw-w64-x86_64-tcl-8.6.8-1 downgraded to mingw-w64-x86_64-tcl-8.6.7-1 * config and/or log files etc. I'm running on a windows 10 laptop, intel processor and gpu Running on mingw64 in msys2 I also tested on my home computer which has windows 10, AMD processor and gpu, resulting in the same errors Steps to reproduce: Install mingw-w64-x86_64-vtk (and whatever pacman packages are required) Set PATH so that vtkpython will function properly Create a python script with vtk tk widgets Run: vtkpython <scriptname>.py Depending on what package your script runs you will get <packagename> not found, or worse: Segmentation fault This is quite a critical error for me and my colleagues.. without this fixed we will switch platform if possible |
This task depends upon
python tkinter works without vtk..
Your issue is with the MSYS2 Windows distribution, which also uses pacman but this is not in fact an issue with pacman itself, merely the packages provided by MSYS2. We are not affiliated or involved with MSYS2 at all (though I personally think it is awesome).
Please look for MSYS2 support here: https://www.msys2.org/#support-or-contact
