community/libquicktime 1.2.4-17 1.2.4-18
community/mpv 1:0.27.2-1 1:0.28.2-2

Should I report this upstream? Or might this be a packaging issue?

Logs? Examples? Anything useful at all?

After longer debugging I found the reason: The video output 'opengl-hq' was removed without deprecation. I had to remove 'vo=opengl-hq' in my mpv-config. I don't know why this only let mpv crash with URLs not with local files.
You can close this ticket. Arch-wiki is already updated. Will think about reporting to upstream.
