As mentioned in the wiki, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GNOME/Files#Thumbnails,
ffmpegthumbnailer is an optional dependency. Pacman doesn't know about this, it should, right?

Could be worded as
ffmpegthumbnailer: Thumbnails for more videofiles

If you have totem installed, ffmpegthumbnailer will not be used at all. As totem comes in the gnome(-extra?) group, installing ffmpegthumbnailer will not solve anything.

I'm not going to add optdepends for random thumbnailers. There's probably more tools that can generate thumbnails out there, not going to add them.
