Details

pacman reports that the latest xchat-gnome version is 0.15. The repositories (Most of them, at least) have not been updated to reflect that, and are still using xchat-gnome 0.12. That results in pacman failing with several errors, and /tmp/pacman.lck not being deleted, which might confuse new users.

Building xchat-gnome 0.15 and updating all the repositories should be the end of this problem.

If a pacman -Ss/-Si xchat-gnome tells me it's version 0.15 then there is nothing wrong with the repos. Your mirror is probably out of date.

Nevermind, I got it:
failed downloading xchat-gnome-0.15-1.pkg.tar.gz from ftp.archlinux.org: 550 Failed to open file.
