Details"network-manager-applet" should have "gnome-keyring" as (optional?) dependency. Without it, attempting to join a wi-fi password-protected network will fail silently, see for example here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=142066
Steps to reproduce: * install "network-manager-applet", but do not install "gnome-keyring" * try to join a password-protected network Expected: password prompt Actually: silent failure. No indication on what's happening and what's the reason of no connection being established. Personally, I don't think nm-applet is really useful without prompting for password. So I think we should either change the nm-applet itself (long-term solution), or force ArchLinux package to depend on "gnome-keyring" (short-term solution). |
