Detailsfile-5.33-1 (in testing) adds additional support for PIE binaries. Their mimetype as reported by `file -bi` is now:
application/x-pie-executable; charset=binary file-5.32-1 (in core) reported them as: application/x-sharedlib; charset=binary makepkg uses `file -bi` (/usr/share/makepkg/tidy/strip.sh:114) to determine whether to strip files and what flags to apply, but does not account for x-pie-executable. The end result is that PIE binaries are no longer stripped, dramatically inflating built package sizes. |
