DetailsIf the 'nvidia-settings' program is run a GUI appears, and when the user changes any of the available options it saves a config file in the home directory under the file name .nvidia-settings-rc. Then, each time the user logs in to their desktop session that file should be read and the settings reapplied. This should be done automagically, but it does not occur for some reason and so the command 'nvidia-settings --load-config-only' must be run either manually or in a script.
