DetailsOn the Arch wiki it states:
1) Due to potential legal incompatibilities between CDDL license of ZFS code and GPL of the Linux kernel ([2],CDDL-GPL,ZFS in Linux) - ZFS development is not supported by the kernel. 2) As a result: ZFS still resides in Arch User Repository and unofficial archzfs repository. Just because ZFS development isn't supported by the kernel doesn't mean we can't have it in the official Arch repository! Are we saying that we can only have GPL software in the Arch repo? This doesn't make sense. Both Debian, Void, and several other distributions has ZFS in their "main" repository in all branches, so it should be possible for Arch to do the same. https://packages.debian.org/stretch/zfs-dkms Having ZFS in AUR is a mess. So feature request: Get ZFS DKMS into the main Arch repo. Kindest regards |

As for zfs-dkms, the reason it is not in the repos is because no Dev/TU is interested in it. I've corrected the wiki to remove the incorrect information; the person who initially wrote that is not a TU and does not speak for us...
