After booting the Arch Linux ISO, the entire laptop fully shuts down (need to manually turn on with power buttton). Happens with both UEFI and BIOS/CSM boot modes.

This happens on ISO versions 2018.04.01 and 2018.03.01, but NOT on 2018.02.01.

Photo with the last boot messages is attached.

Laptop: Acer Aspire F15 (F5-572G) with latest BIOS version.

Ah, it was larger than 2 MB.

So it's not shutting down at all, it just started up.

Can you switch to tty2?
Comment by Conder (Conder) - Sunday, 08 April 2018, 15:47 GMT
No, its the last frame from a video, before shut down.

what are you calling "shut down"?
Comment by Conder (Conder) - Sunday, 08 April 2018, 16:05 GMT
Regular shutdown, just like "systemctl poweroff" or holding down the power button...

That's not shutdown, that's the video just going off. Try adding nomodeset to the kernel command line, there's probably a problem with your video drivers.

Sorry but how it couldn't be shutdown, if the laptop completely shuts down and pressing the power button is required to turn it on again?

I tried the "nomodeset" parameter on the latest 2018.04.01 ISO, and the same result, shuts down on the same step (Reached target sound card). Both UEFI and BIOS/CSM boot modes.

So it's actually powering off there?

I'm trying to figure out where this could be coming from.

Yes, powering off.

Thanks.

Btw., I tried Ubuntu 18.04 beta 2, which uses kernel 4.15 too, and it boots without problems.

Please, any update?

The issue still persists even in ISO 2018.05.01.

The issue is resolved in Arch Linux ISO 2018.06.01 and later. We can close this.

So these Arch Linux ISO versions were affected:
2018.05.01
2018.04.01
2018.03.01
